Plaza de Armas de Cusco

As every Latino-American city, the heart of this town beats on the Main Square. In Cusco, this is the real historical center because before being what it is today, it was an important ceremonial, social and agricultural center that measured more than 4000m². It was from there that the four main and cardinal roads formed the four powerful provinces of the Inca Empire. Today, there is a lovely flowered lawn in the middle, with a fountain surmounted with the statue of the Inca Pachacutec, the founder of the Inca greatness. All around, there are benches made of iron where it is pleasant to sit to enjoy the view when the sun is still shining. On both sides, the Plaza de Armas is bordered by the cathedral, the Society of Jesus’ church and colonial houses with balconies made of carved wood, which a pleasure to see. On these balconies, there are some cafés where there  travelers rest in their way to Machu Picchu, there are also nightclubs, which come alive at night and give another appereance to the Main Square. They continue the party until the end of the night.
